Pakistan violates ceasefire in Pallanwala sector in Jammu: Army

The Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday accused Pakistan of violating ceasefire despite calls for restraint.

Pakistani troops on Thursday resorted to heavy cross-border firing in Pallanwala sector of Jammu, the Army said. The unprovoked ceasefire violation by Pakistan Army in Pallanwala Sector, was being responded to befittingly by Indian troops, the Army added. Meanwhile, earlier in the day, the Ministry of External Affairs accused Pakistan of violating ceasefire despite calls for restraint. In a statement to the media on Thursday, MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup said, there have been 18 instances of infiltration by terrorists from vicinity of Pakistani posts during last week. MEA’s statement comes in the backdrop of Pakistan’s claim that they killed 11 Indian soldiers in cross-border firing across the LoC.

Pakistan Army Chief General Raheel Sharif on Wednesday claimed that his troops killed at least 11 Indian jawans the day seven Pakistani soldiers were killed in firing by Indian troops across the Line of Control (LoC) General Raheel said this in an informal chat with journalists in the President House where a banquet was organised by the President in honour of visiting Turkish President. “The day seven of our soldiers were martyred on the border, we killed at least 11 Indian soldiers,” he had said.
