Former BJP leader and cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu on Friday formed a new political front in Punjab by the name ‘Aawaaz-ePunjab’. The front was formed along with India’s former hockey captain Pargat Singh and Punjab MLAs Simarjit Singh Bains and Balwant Singh Bains. Commenting on the new front, Simarjit Bains said, “It’s a platform for the people with honesty in their hearts to serve country and end corruption.”

The “Aawaaz-e-Punjab” poster says the front will “raise voice against those who have destroyed Punjab”. According to PTI, the formal announcement will take place in 3-4 days. Posters showing a photograph of Sidhu, Pargat and Bains brothers together were today posted by the front’s leaders that said the four have joined hands for the politics of hope and faith.

Ever since Navjot Singh Sidhu’s resignation from the Rajya Sabha on July 18, he has kept the political circle guessing about his next move. Speculation was rife that he would join AAP as the CM candidate for Punjab, but nothing materialised so far and the former cricketer and former Amritsar MP did not join even the AAP.

The Congress had been trying to get Sidhu on board ever since he resigned from Rajya Sabha membership. Congress leader Amarinder Singh had earlier said that Sidhu was welcome to join Congress as it is in his DNA, as his father happened to be a Congressman.

Sidhu hails from Patiala, the home town of Amarinder Singh.
