A MUMBAI court granted three-day custody of Arshi Qureshi and Rizwan Khan to Mumbai police on Monday. The two were arrested by the Mumbai police on the complaint of one Abdul Majid Abdul Kader, who claimed that his son Ashfaque was radicalised to join the banned terrorist outfit, Islamic State, by them.

Qureshi, a Navi Mumbai resident who worked as the guest relations manager with Islamic Research Foundation, founded by televangelist Zakir Naik, and Khan, a Kalyan resident, who worked as a volunteer with Al-Birr Foundation, were arrested last month by the Kerala police. The allegation against them in Kerala was that they had radicalised 21 youths and made them join IS.

On Monday, police officials in Kerala produced the two men before a court in Mumbai to handover their custody to the Mumbai crime branch. The court verified the documents and the identity of the accused. The Mumbai police then claimed police custody of the two since they were booked in a separate case in the city.
