Two villagers allegedly associated with a Maoist outfit have been killed by the rebels in the forests of Gadchiroli on the suspicion of being police informers, a press release issued by the district police has claimed.
“A group of 15-20 Naxals came to Masanadi village near Pendhri and took away Sheshrao Darro, 52, and Devaji Atla, 55, both tribals, and killed them in the adjoining forest,” the note said.
The note claimed the victims were associated with a rebel outfit. “Both had been associated with Naxal Jantana Sarkar (people’s government),” it said.

“The Naxalites have been unkind to the very people who have served them. They are killing them under the suspicion that they were involved in anti-party activities,” the note said.
Asked how the rebels could could continue killing people despite the police claiming to have marginalised them, SP Sandip Patil said, “These killings are happening in areas where we have been successful in marginalising them. The rebels are frustrated. We have intelligence inputs that the they have decided to kill at least one person from each of their 10 area committees in the district, suspecting them to be police informers.”
It is learnt that police is spending large amounts to get tip-offs on the Maoists. Patil said, “The Naxals have admitted in their documents that they are no more in a position to launch big attacks on security forces. So, they have decided to launch hit-and-run attacks on policemen.”
