Mann Ki Baat LIVE: People using innocents for spreading violence will have to answer, says PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is addressing the country through the 23rd installment of his monthly special–Mann Ki Baat. Aired on All India Radio, the programme is being broadcast in several languages to reach people all across the country.

The tech-savvy Prime Minister had asked Indians to post the topics that they would like to be covered on the 23rd edition of Mann Ki Baat on the Narendra Modi App and MyGov Open Forum. Some of the suggestions mentioned on the website include plans for Tokyo 2020 Olympics, border issues, religion and educational reforms.

11:21 am: On August 20, people were invited for the Swacch Ganga initiative in Allahabad. Village pradhans promised to stop defecating in the river and build toilets in their villages. PM Modi congratulated people for taking the initiative to clean Ganga.

11:20 am: PM Modi also spoke on Mother Teresa being canonized as saint on September 4. He said she dedicated her life to the service of the poor.

11:18 am: PM Modi requests the nation to go green this festive season and make clay idols on Ganesh Chaturthi and Durga Puja. “If we protect the aquatic life, we will serve Lord Ganesh. Eco-friendly Ganesh Utsav is social service since we will be providing employment to many along with preserving the environment”

11: 14 am: PM Modi mentions Ganesh Utsav and Lokmanya Tilak. He mentions how Tilak gave Indians the mantra “Swaraj hamara adhikar hai.” PM Modi says he hopes people celebrate the festival with this emotion as festivals breathe life into the lives of ordinary men.

11:10 am: PM Modi speaks on Teacher’s Day and salutes P V Sindhu’s coach Pullela Gopichand for his dedication towards the game and his mentorship.

11: 08am: PM Narendra Modi speaks on a Committee by the Government that would study the prevalent practices in the world in order to make a roadmap for the next Olympics. He also requests state governments to make committees overlooking sports performances and see what can be done to tap the potential.

11:04 am : PM Modi said, “Despite not getting the medals, Indian athletes have given a good performance at Rio Olympics performance.” Be it Abhinav Bindra or Dipa Karmakar, who missed the medal by a very small margin, Rohan Bopanna, Sania Mirza, Lalita Babar, Aditi Ashok, Dattu Bhokanal, Atanu Das – all these athletes have made their mark in the event.

He praises PV Sindhu, Sakshi Malik, Deepa Karmakar for Rio Olympics performance. ‘Our daughters have proved that they are not less than anybody. 11:02 am: PM Modi said people asked him to speak on Rio Olympics and this is very positive. He said one person wrote on the Narendra Modi app asking him to speak on female education and their participation in sports since they were the ones who got us medals in Rio Olympics this year and made us proud.

11:01 am:  PM Narendra Modi pays homage to Hockey player Dhyan Chand ahead of his birth anniversary on Monday recalling Don Bradman’s words saying ‘he scores goals like runs.’
