Days after alleged kingpin of a kidney racket Sanjay Raut alias Amit escaped from the custody of Anand police, the investigating officer in the case has been shunted out and a new probe team was formed.

Anand SP Saurabh Singh has also initiated a probe into the “lapse” on part of three police officers, who were escorting Raut (62) back from Delhi on August 9 when he escaped from Ajmer railway station.

The four were returning to Ahmedabad from Swarna Jayanti Express, and Raut reportedly fled between 2 am and 3 am when the police officers “dozed off”.

The SP said two teams have been formed to track down Raut. “We planned another search operation and the teams have set out again. The circumstances are such that a new police inspector will take time to settle in the case,” he said.
