J&K’s National Conference leader Ghulam Mohinuddin Mir was on Wednesday attacked by suspected militants in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Officials said that Mir had gone to Monghema village, three kilometers from Pulwama town, to attend a marriage.
While Mir escaped unhurt, his security officer, Shabir Ahmad Mir, guarding him outside a house was attacked by the militants.
Ahmad sustained bullet injuries after the militants fired at him and fled the spot snatching his service weapon.
Another person who was in civvies was also injured in the firing. Both the injured persons were later shifted to hospital.
After the attack, army and Special Operation Group of Police cordoned the area and started search operation.
This is second weapon-snatching incident in Kashmir in the past three days. In a similar incident on Monday, a group of unidentified militants had killed a police constable at Tengapora and fled the spot after snatching his rifle.
