Pakistan has violated ceasefire yet again in RS Pura sector in Jammu on Wednesday, targeting Indian posts with heavy mortar and small arms fire, according to DIG BSF, as reported by PTI. In the past 24 hours, at least 10 civilians, including seven women members of one family, have been injured due to the ceasefire violations in RS Pura sector. The district administration has instructed closure of educational institutions in the border areas and have asked the people to remain cautious. Ever since India carried out surgical strikes across LoC on terror launch pads, there have been over 40 ceasefire violations by Pakistan.
India on Tuesday also said that Pakistan Army had violated ceasefire targeting Indian Army positions with mortar and smarll arms fire in Noushera sector of Rajouri, which prompted the army to give a ‘befitting response’.
Meanwhile, Pakistan has also lodged a protest accusing India of ceasefire violation at the Working Boundary in Chaprar and Harpal sectors and on the LoC in Bhimber sector on 25-26 October. India’s Deputy High Commissioner was summoned by Pakistan after the former lodged a strong protest over alleged “unprovoked firing” by Indian forces. This was the second day in succession that Indian envoy J P Singh was summoned by the Foreign Office over violation of ceasefire. A statement by the Pakistan Foreign Office said: “The Indian Deputy High Commissioner was summoned by the Director General (South Asia & SAARC) today. A strong protest was lodged against the unprovoked ceasefire violations.”
