Ailing Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s foster son Sudhakaran was denied permission to visit her in Apollo Hospital on Thursday. Jayalalithaa has been undergoing treatments in Apollo Hospitals in Chennai for ‘fever and dehydration’ from September 22. The hospital first reported that she was being treated for ‘fever and dehydration’ but later revealed that she has an ‘infection’ and also that her treatments provides a ‘respiratory support’ for her.
Half a dozen medical bulletins in the last two weeks maintained that Jayalalithaa is recovering from her illness, that she is responding to medicines and a team doctors are monitoring her. On Wednesday, three senior doctors have arrived from AIIMS, Delhi to assist the medical team treating Jayalalithaa.
In the meantime, the Madras High Court has quashed a petition seeking ‘real facts’ on the health of the chief minister, observing that it was meant for publicity and political reasons. The court added that the petition was not justified.
When the case had come up for hearing on Tuesday, petitioner Traffic Ramaswamy argued that it was a matter of urgency.
