Stressing on the need to fall back on organic or traditional ways of agriculture, Haryana Agriculture Minister OP Dhankar Monday said that the government is promoting usage of bio-pesticides and organic farming and that the farmers are being made aware on usage of chemicals. He said that sampling of soil, water, fruits and vegetables were being done on a regular basis.
Dhankar said this while replying to a question asked by Congress MLA Karan Singh Dalal during the Question Hour on the steps taken by the government to minimise the usage of chemicals in agriculture in compliance with orders of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
Taking part in the Question Hour, Haryana Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma while replying to a question said that the government has decided to set up a University in Gurgaon and said that the construction work would commence within this year.
He slammed that previous government for making promises to open several universities which only remained on paper.
The Education Minister further said that all Engineering and B.Ed colleges affiliated to the Kurukshetra University would not be shifted to any other University.
The session also witnessed heated argument between Congress legislature Kiran Choudhary and BJP Public health Engineering Minister Banwari Lal over allegations that water of a canal was not reaching several villages in Bhiwani for years. Replying to the allegation made by Choudhary, Lal said that the BJP had been in power only for two years but prior to that it was the Congress government which was in power.
