Gangster Ravi Pujari has allegedly called up the Hurriyat Conference office here and threatened to kill its chief Syed Ali Shah Geelani.
“The gangster named Ravi Pujari called on a landline number of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat head office at Hyderpora (Srinagar) around 8.45 Friday evening,” Hurriyat spokesperson Ayaz Akbar said. “He used uncivilised and abusive language.”
Akbar said Pujari also spoke to a news channel and threatened to kill Geelani, who is currently in New Delhi. “The underworld don then confirmed the threat call on a private news channel of India and publicly threatened to kill Geelani Sahib,” he said.
“This indicates he is being sponsored by the Indian government and communal forces of the country. His sudden intervention in the Kashmir issue is not meaningless,” he added.
“Despite all these threats, he (Geelani) will continue to pursue his stand and continue his struggle for the liberation of Kashmir from Indian occupation,” he said.
