The Chhattisgarh Police on Friday said the bodies of four Maoists have been recovered after an operation in the state’s insurgency-hit Bijapur district.
Senior police officers said one of the four rebels has been identified as Reinu, the intelligence chief and commander of the Maoists’ Bhairamgarh action team. While two others have been identified as Sundari and Payku, the identity of one is yet to be ascertained.
Officers said the police acted on a tip-off. “The operation was conducted by a team of the District Reserve Group (DRG) after they got a tip-off about rebel movement in the Mirtur police station,” said Bastar IG S R Kalluri.
Among the weapons recovered is a 9 mm pistol, a .303 rifle, a 12 bore and a .315 bore rifles. “Other books and articles were also recovered,” an officer said.
