Former BJD MLA and scion of Khandapara royal family in Nayagarh district, Siddharth Sekhar Singh, on Sunday resigned from the primary membership of the party. Singh, 40, was, member of the legislative assembly between 2009 and 2014. However, he was upset with the party leadership after he was looked over during the 2014 Assembly polls. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik then chose the son of former MLA, Bijaylaxmi Patnaik. Singh’s supporters had then staged protest in front of CM Patnaik’s residence. It is not yet clear which party Singh would join. In his letter of resignation to Naveen Patnaik, Singh alleged that the party was not giving importance to him. Singh's father Bibhuti Bhushan Singh Mardaraj is a former Deputy Speaker of Assembly as well as three-time minister in Congress governments.
