She asked the Samajwadi Party chief to get over his love for his son and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and take ‘sanyas’ from active politics.

She said there are dozens of people in the Yadav family who are active in politics and all have their “own personal interests”.

“Reports of internal feud in the family keep emanating from time to time but at election time they appear to be a drama to divert people’s attention,” she said.

The ruling Yadav family in the state is facing political and family rift after Mulayam replaced Akhilesh with Shivpal Yadav as party’s state chief. Akhilesh in turn divested his uncle Shivpal of key portfolios.

“But if there is any truth in these reports (of family feud), Mulayam should shun active politics get over his love for his son (putra-moh tyag)…this will be in the interest of the state and its people,” Mayawati said at an meeting of her party coordinators and office-bearers here.

Samajwadi Party leader Shivpal Yadav retorted asking her to keep her suggestions to herself.

“Her suggestions are not important for us…our party is not run as per her suggestions…she should keep it for her own organisation,” Yadav told newspersons when his comment was sought on Mayawati’s advice.

The BSP chief also gave directions to her partymem and told them the coming polls will be contested highlighting the “casteist, corrupt and wrong policies” of the SP government.

She attacked Congress also saying it was in a very bad shape in the state because of which its top leaders were forced to hold “rath yatra, padyatra and khat yatra”.

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi has undertaken 2,500-km ‘Kisan Yatra’ in the state. He interacts with farmers sitting on cots, which the party calls ‘khat sabha’.
