Hitting back at Congress over its ‘PM-mukt Parliament’ barb at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP on Saturday said its leaders are only keen on giving statements and disrupting work in Parliament and most of them, including Rahul Gandhi, were missing during debates on important issues like atrocities against Dalits.
It also claimed that Modi is among those prime ministers who have given maximum time to Parliament but the opposition party suffered from “Modi-phobia” and was frustrated over his “success” in doing works like empowering the poor and farmers that it could not do during its decades of rule.
“Congress is making wrong statements in its Modi-phobia. He has given maximum time to Parliament. Its leaders make statements and disrupt work in Parliament but it takes up debates on serious issues the party’s leaders, including vice president Rahul Gandhi, go missing,” BJP National Secretary Shrikant Sharma said, referring to debate on the Dalit issue.
Modi is successfully resolving the problems created by Congress and that is why it is frustrated, he said.
Attacking PM Narendra Modi, Congress spokesperson Kapil Sibal had said earlier in the day, “We have a PM-mukt Parliament. It is a sad state of affairs. He says he respects the Constitution, but doesn’t attend Parliament.”
