Chennai-bound Oman Air flight makes emergency landing in Goa

The Oman flight made an emergency landing as a woman fell ill and later she was declared brought dead by the hospital. The police has registered case.

SAS says that they have made all effort to reach an agreement with the Swedish pilots union SPF, however, every effort has failed. Moreover, since most fights were fully booked, so the chances of re-booking a flight are not the best. A Chennai-bound Oman Air flight from Muscat on Thursday made an emergency landing at Goa International airport in Dabolim after a woman passenger was taken ill.

“There was (an) emergency landing due to a medical reason at 7 AM. Oman Airway’s flight that was flying to Chennai from Muscat had a woman passenger who reported sick mid-air,” Dabolim Airport director, Bhupesh Negi said. The passenger was later declared dead by doctors, he said. The flight later took off to its scheduled journey.

Meanwhile, Goa Police, which lodged a case in this regard, said the woman passenger was referred to government- run Cottage Hospital at Chicalim, near the airport. “She was declared brought dead by doctors at the hospital,” a police official said. Details of the passenger were awaited.

An IndiGo flight from Dubai to Kozhikode too made an emergency landing at the Mumbai airport, earlier Thursday morning following alleged unruly behaviour of a passenger. After stepping down from the cart, the passenger suddenly got violent and started physically abusing the co-passenger, IndiGo said. The airport police said one passenger has been detained for questioning.
