Meanwhile. workers of Congress as well as AAP protested Monday, blocking the Udham Singh Chowk in Dharamkot town demanding immediate arrest of the accused and action against local SHO Satwinder Singh.

Congress’s Dharamkot leader Sukhjit Singh Kala Lohgarh led the protest and was later joined by AAP volunteers.

They said the SHO did not act against the local SAD leader even when he was booked in a case almost a month ago.

“The main accused was booked under Section 326 (causing hurt using dangerous weapons) but police took no action,” said Amit Puri from AAP.

Meanwhile, police claimed that Jagsir Singh was admitted at DMCH Ludhiana where he underwent a surgery owing to the injuries he received during the scuffle. Sources from DMCH confirmed that three SAD men, Jagsir, Rajdip and Manjit, admitted in hospital are stable and out of danger.

The kin and opposition parties, however, alleged that it was a “tactic” of the police and the SAD leader to evade arrest.

On Sunday late, senior AAP leader H S Phoolka had reached Moga city south police station demanding registration of a ‘Zero FIR’ in the case. The Moga police, however, registered an FIR at Dharamkot police station on Monday.

*Two weapons used in crime

The post-mortem examination of the body was conducted at Civil Hospital Ludhiana on Monday. DSP Dharamkot Mandeep Singh confirmed that two weapons were used in the crime — .32 bore revolver and 12 bore rifle. “Jagroop had sustained injuries from both weapons. His nephew, Prithpal, got grievous injuries from shells of 12 bore rifle. Jagsir had 32 bore revolver and his accomplice had 12 bore rifle. They both opened fire. We will arrest them as soon as accused are discharged. Family has agreed for cremation,” said DSP.

*Dharna lifted after police assurance

The protesters lifted the dharna Sunday late after DSP Dharamkot Mandeep Singh assured them of action against the SHO and arrest of accused after discharge from hospital. “A committee under supervision of senior officials has been formed to probe the role of SHO. Accused will be arrested once they are discharged from hospital,” the DSP told The Indian Express.

The family also assured police that they will cremate the body on Tuesday.

*AAP’s ultimatum

The AAP on Monday gave an ultimatum to Moga police to arrest the killers of its worker or it would gherao the police station on Tuesday.

AAP’s Punjab Co-Incharge Jarnail Singh and Legal Wing Head Himmat Singh Shergill said rule of lawlessness has prevailed in Punjab and Akali workers are killing people without any fear.
