Delhi: 61 trains delayed, 13 cancelled due to dense fog

Apart from air and rail transport services, the dense fog also disrupted the bus services around Delhi and its neighbouring states.

Dense fog continues to disrupt transport services around the national capital region as poor visibility led to multiple cancellation and delays on Wednesday. News agency ANI reported that as many 61 trains were running late at the New Delhi railway station on Wednesday causing inconvenience to many. Passengers were left stranded after 13 trains got cancelled due to the fog and seven were rescheduled.

Along with the railways, flight operations in New Delhi were also affected by the fog leading to poor visibility on the runway. While three international and six domestic flights were delayed, three domestic flights were cancelled owing to the weather. A similar situation ensued in the adjoining parts of northern India. In Uttar Pradesh, as many as 17 trains were running late on Wednesday. A blanket of fog had led to the cancellation of six trains.

Apart from air and rail transport services, the foggy weather also disrupted the bus services around the region. Due to low visibility on the highways, Uttar Pradesh was also experiencing connectivity issues. Bihar, Punjab, Haryana too witnessed dense fog in multiple cities of the states. Currently, the entire northern part of India is experiencing a cold wave which is most likely to intensify in the coming days.
