After the positive response Ghazi got for its first-look poster, the filmmakers on Tuesday pushed out Rana Daggubati’s look from the film a day before the actor’s birthday. Rana, who is essaying the role of a Naval officer, is seen with a thick beard and rugged look in the official white uniform. The Hindi-Telugu bilingual film, which is touted to be “India’s first underwater film”, is said have visuals on a grand scale.
“Ghazi marks a new technical revelation in Indian cinema which has never experienced underwater war visuals. World’s best technicians are working on this extravaganza to be released on February 17, 2017,” the filmmakers said. Starring Rana Daggubati, Taapsee Pannu and Kay Kay Menon in important roles, Ghazi is directed by Sankalp Reddy based on his own book, Blue Fish, which deals with 1971 Indo-Pak War.
The film is said to be based on the mysterious sinking of PNS Ghazi, a Pakistan submarine during the Indo-Pak 1971 war. It is about an executive naval officer and his team who had remained underwater for 18 days. Taapsee will be portrayed as a refugee in the film.
Looking at Rana’s success, Bollywood director and producer Karan Johar had bought the Hindi distribution rights for the film too. For Rana too, the film will be a new domain for him to work in. “Pushing my experimental envelope towards mainstream cinema yet again!! #GHAZI,” Rana had earlier said.
Ghazi will be another Tollywood movie with the war backdrop after the recent National Award-winning movie Kanche, which is based on Nazi forces in World War II.
