After two decades, Kajol is making her comeback in Kollywood with Dhanush’s upcoming film Velaiyilla Pattathari 2, which recently went on floors in Chennai. The Bollywood actor took to Twitter to share a picture from the photo-shoot of her upcoming south Indian film.
The picture shows Kajol dressed in black showing off her age-defying looks along with her co-star Dhanush and director Soundarya Rajinikanth. “Finally 1st day photoshoot! #backtotamilafter20yrs#thenewteam,” she wrote on her Twitter page.
VIP 2 is her second Tamil film after Minsara Kanavu, a two hero film with Arvind Swamy and Prabhu Dea in the lead roles, which came out in 1997. The film was a blockbuster and it also received good reviews from the critics. It had music from AR Rahman and all the songs in the movie became chartbusters. The film also received the National Award for the best music direction.
The sequel to VIP 2 went on the floors on Thursday with the blessings of superstar Rajinikanth, who launched the film with traditional mahurat clap and wished the film’s team all the best.
VIP 2 is the second directorial outing of Soundarya, who made her debut in 2014 directing, India’s first motion capture film Kochadaiiyaan starring her superstar father Rajinikanth in the lead. VIP 2 marks the second collaboration of Soundarya with Kalaippuli S Thanu, who is also producing Nilavukku Enmel Ennadi Kobam. V Creations also produced Rajinikanth’s blockbuster film Kabali, this year. The film went on to create an all-time worldwide box office record for a Tamil film.
