The upcoming film of actor Sasikumar, Balle Vellaiyathevaa, has been cleared by the censor board with a clean ‘U’ certificate, paving the way for its release next Friday.

The comedy film set in a rural backdrop also has Kovai Sarala, who plays the grandmother of Sashikumar in the film. Her get-up in the film resembles a popular character played by legendary actor Aachi Manorama. The teaser of Balle Vellaiyathevaa reminds us of the 1988 hit film Patti Sollai Thattathe, which revolved around the hilarious relationship between a grandson and his grandmother.

The film, which is written and directed by debutant P Solai Prakash, is produced by Sashikumar. And it marks the debut of Tanya Ravichandran as a heroine.

The makers are very confident that this film would work. So much so that they were ready for the box office clash with actor Suriya’s Singam 3 at the box office. However, the makers of the cop film postponed the release date for the third time on Friday citing various reasons.

Taking the advantage of the Singam 3 postpone, actor Vishal brought forward the release of his film Kathi Sandai to December 23 from January. Earlier, the film was promoted as a Pongal release along with Vijay’s Bairavaa. It will simultaneously release in Telugu as Okkadochadu.

“#KaththiSandai n #okkadochadu confirmed to release on Dec 23rd @hiphoptamizha @tamannaahspeaks @CameoFilmsIndia @sooriofficial,” wrote actor Vishal on his Twitter account. “All work in full swing for #KaththiSandai n #okkadochadu release on #dec23 @hiphoptamizha @tamannaahspeaks @CameoFilmsIndia @sooriofficial.”

The film stars Tamannaah as the female lead and marks the comeback of popular comedian Vadivelu on the big screen after a hiatus.

Kathi Sandai is directed by Suraj, who has commercial hits like Padikkadhavan, Alex Pandian and Maappillai to his credit. Madras Enterprises has bankrolled the project and Hiphop Thamizha has scored the music for the film.
