Grand audio release functions have been the central part of film promotions down south for years now. The practice seems to be fast losing the support with the film fraternity as many big ticket films have had opted for a soft music launch of late. And Vijay’s forthcoming film Bairavaa is the latest to join this bandwagon.
Makers of the action film have planned to directly release the music album on the internet on December 23. Several factors may have influenced the makers to avoid an expensive star-studded event to mark the celebration of the audio release. The state of Tamil Nadu has gone through a rough patch with the demise of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, cash woes due to the Centre’s demonetisation move, and the recent cyclone Vardah. Gusty winds of the cyclone had thrown the Chennai city into the darkness, besides leaving a massive trail of destruction from which the city is till recovering.
The recent unfortunate developments had also forced the makers of Suriya’s upcoming film Singam 3 to postpone the release without a further date.
Composer Santhosh Narayanan has scored music for the film. Talking about the song sung by Vijay, the music director, said the actor has done an incredible job. “Exciting ‘Bairavaa’ update. Recorded Vijay for a song and he has sung incredibly well. Earth shattering dance moves guaranteed,” Santhosh had posted on his Twitter page.
The trailer of the film is also expected to be released soon after the music launch. The film’s teaser which was released on Diwali has gone viral on the internet. About one minute-long clip has been viewed more than 12 million times on YouTube.
The post-production work is going on in full swing as the filmmakers have planned to release the film on Pongal next year. The big-ticket film is also a milestone for Vijay as it is his 60th film in a career spanning nearly 25 years. The expectations from the film are also very high given that Vijay’s last outing, Theri, was one of the top grossing films in Tamil this year.
Bairavaa, directed by Bharathan, is said to have a strong social message. The film has actor Keerty Suresh as its female lead and is bankrolled by Vijaya Productions.
