The Rajasthan High Court on Monday, July 26, acquitted Salman Khan in the blackbuck poaching case of 1998. Since then, Bollywood actors and sister Arpita Khan have been showering praise, love, and support for the Sultan actor. A happy Salman took to Twitter and thanked all his well-wishers.

Other than stars, there have been mixed reactions on Twitter. While some were ecstatic and heaved a huge sigh of relief, others sarcastically reacted to the verdict of The Rajasthan High Court.

Members of the Bishnoi community were shocked over the acquittal.

“We respect the (Rajasthan High) Court. But there is a disappointment, especially among wildlife lovers in our community. We are going to request the state government to approach the Supreme Court in this case,” said Hiraram Bishnoi, a community leader ,” he said

As a community, Bishnois love wild animals and protect chinkaras, black bucks, and deer among others.

“While we respect the constitution and judicial system, the judgment has come as a shock to us,” said Ramniwas Budhnagar of Bishnoi Tiger Force.

Earlier today even PETA India condemned the verdict.

“Whether you’re a film star or not, the public expects wildlife protection laws and punishments for violating them to apply equally to everyone. While we do not know the details of what transpired in court, we can say that this verdict will come as a massive shock and disappointment for people across the nation who care for animals as they will likely feel it makes light of animal protection laws,” CEO, Poorva Joshipura said in a statement.

“The clean-chit verdict may encourage others to try their luck and to kill wild animals. Salman Khan has in recent years expressed he cares about dogs and we hope that this experience will encourage him to expand that circle of compassion to other species and to use his star status to now speak out against hunting and other cruelty,” she added.
