Jackie Shroff is a proud father today as his son Tiger Shroff has been accepted by the audiences after his debut film Heropanti. He went on to deliver yet another hit, Baaghi, and is now playing a superhero in A Flying Jatt. Apart from that, Jackie himself is a great actor who has rocked the 70s and 80s with his charismatic personality.

He was recently seen in Housefull 3 playing the character of Urja Nagre. The movie, which also stars Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Nargis Fakhri, Lisa Haydon and Jacqueline Fernandez, went on to become one of the highest-grossing film of 2016. The film will be aired on September 4 at 1pm on Star Gold. In an exclusive conversation with the, the one and only ‘Bhidu’ of Bollywood talks about Tiger, Akshay Kumar and his career.

Have you seen A Flying Jatt?

Yes of course. He is my son. The child in me really loved the film. The child in me loved the sincerity and thoughts about environmental pollution which is what Swachch Bharat is talking about every moment. Everywhere you can see, people are promoting cleanliness. So this movie has a message which every child should understand and keep in his mind. I think bachhe to samajh gaye, bade nahi samajh rahe. (Children have understood this message but adults have not).

How do you see Tiger Shroff’s success?

It has been immense. God has given a lot. What more can I ask for my child? Tiger took his first steps and people accepted him with open arms. They have given so much love, they are talking so much about him that I feel it is because of his good deeds. There is a kind of sincerity in his eyes that he has got such a successful launch. I thank Sajid Nadiadwala for launching him and I thank the whole India and other countries where they loved my child and accepted him as their own child. And people have also related to him so strongly. It’s a blessing boss, it’s a blessing.

So When will we get to see you and Tiger on the big screen together?

Actually I am really wishing that Star, Fox, UTV and like Sajid bhai, which are all big production houses, cast us together in a movie. If they cast me and Tiger together then it’s a very good thing for me.

Will you ever produce a movie with you and Tiger in it?

No. I will never do that, it not my temperament. But I will act for sure. If someone takes me and my son Tiger for acting, and if I find the role is good enough for me, then I would definitely do that film. But I will not produce any film with my son.

Your movie Housefull 3 went on to become one of the biggest hits of 2016. How was the experience of working in the film?

It feels fantastic. First of all its a comedy film and to reach a certain mark called superhit is commendable. Comedy films are hardly seen. And for me, this film was very hard to tackle. It was something where I was asked to make faces and I really prefer this kind of comedy. My character Urja Nagre was a serious and tough guy but he was not evil. He had three daughters and his emotions as a father were intact. His emotions are very deep rooted. Wo Jo baate karta hai uske muh se jo chize nikalti hai that is really funny (The way he talks and what he says is really funny). So this is something new that I have done in my long acting career. This is something that has never come to me before.

You said acting in this movie was a tough job for you. So What kind of preparation you did for this role?

There was no need for me to do any kind of preparation for this role. Actually, I don’t do preparation while shooting for a movie. In movies like Hero, Parinda, 1942 Love Story, Mission Kashmir also, I didn’t prepare. Whatever the role is I understand my character and follow my director blindly. I don’t actually die in a dying role. I don’t take myself so seriously.

You were the senior most actors on the Housefull 3 sets.

But in comedy, I was the junior most. Usme bade bade jhaad the comedy ke (Everybody was a comedian in the film). Writer was a comedian, director was a comedian and actors who were in it have done a lot of comedy films earlier. Riteish Deshmukh is fantastic, Abhishek Bachchan is fantastic, Akshay Kumar is fantastic, Boman Irani is fantastic and Chunkey Pandey is another lovely actor. They do serious roles also but they are masters of comedy. So in their group, I was the most junior one. It felt like I was learning from these people. Basically, I was trying to follow these actors, my director and trying to give my best.

Can you share some funny moments with us from the sets?

Every moment was funny. Puri picture haste haste nikal gayi (The whole film went off laughing). And when you have Akshay around, there will be jokes and pranks happening every now and then. When Akshay gets my phone in his hands, he starts sending funny text messages to all my friends in my contact list. Alag alag kism ke message jo maine kabhi zindagi me nahi dekhe (I haven’t seen such messages in my life), that kind of messages he sends. And then people are replying what have you sent to us. Everyone had a great time together and there were many such moments. If you get a text on your phone saying I Love You, then assume that Akshay has sent it.
