Filmfare awards 2017: Aamir Khan, Alia Bhatt, Dangal emerge winners. Watch video, pics

Filmfare awards 2017: Aamir Khan and Alia Bhatt become Best Actors, while Dangal wins the big honours too. Here's everything that happened at the Filmfare awards.

aamir-alia-759 Filmfare awards 2017: Aamir Khan won the Best Actor Male award for Dangal, while Alia Bhatt walked away with Best Actor Female trophy for Udta Punjab.

The jury has had its say and at the 62nd Filmfare Awards, Kapoor & Sons, Neerja, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Udta Punjab and Dangal took major awards. Alia Bhatt emerged as the Best Actor (Female) for Udta Punjab while Aamir Khan took home Best Actor (Male) trophy for Dangal. Nitesh Tiwari was adjudged the Best Director for Dangal.

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil swept awards in the music category while Sonam Kapoor won Critics’ Choice award for Best Actor (Female). Shahid Kapoor (Udta Punjab) and Manoj Bajpayee (Aligarh) were joint winners of Critics’ Choice award for Best Actor. Neerja won Critics award for Best Film.

Best debuts were bagged by Diljit Dosanjh (Udta Punjab) and Ritika Singh (Saala Khadoos). The big music awards of the evening went to Arijit Singh (Best male playback singer for Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’s title track) while Amitabh Bhattacharya won the best lyricist for the film’s Channa Mereya. Neha Bhasin won best female playback singer for Sultan’s Jag Ghoomeya). Rishi Kapoor (Kapoor and Sons) and Shabana Azmi (Neerja) won best supporting actors male and female respectively.

Earlier, Filmfare Awards has begun on quite a high note in Mumbai. The starry night began with red carpet arrivals. Salman Khan, the Bhaijaan of industry, stole our hearts with his dapper looks while the evergreen and charming Anil Kapoor is leaving no stone unturned in the looks department. And how to miss the gorgeous ladies of Bollywood, who owned the red carpet as and when they walked in.

Alia Bhatt looked beautiful while Sonakshi Sinha was a stunner. Sridevi was another one who made heads turn. Kriti Sanon, Parineeti Chopra and Sonam Kapoor owned the red carpet.

Jacqueline Fernandez, who had a eventful 2016, gave a stunning pose for the shutterbugs at the event while Urvashi Rautela set the temperatures soaring. The actor had already won hearts this year with her song, Haseeno Ka Deewana from Kaabil. And if Urvashi is already making her presence felt, how can Laila urf Sunny Leone be left behind? Sunny will appear in Raees song, Laila Main Laila, which has already become talk of the town ever since its release. Well just like their films, even the beauties have clashed and we just cannot decided who looked better.

The prestigious award show is to be hosted by Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar, and will also see power packed performances from renowned B-town celebs. And then there are the nominations which have made news, some of it for the wrong reasons. While fans pointed out some of the biggest names which have been left out from the fray, Akshay Kumar being one of them. But as the awards began, the rancour was set aside as stars posed for the shutterbugs in their designer gowns.

Varun Dhawan talked about performing at the awards for the third time. He said his performance at the event is going to be a mix of different things that he has never tried before. However, he was still nervous and anxious. Meanwhile the ‘English Vinglish’ actor Sridevi made us envious of her beauty and never dying grace.
