Befikre starring Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor is done with its first weekend at the box office and has earned Rs 34.36 crore. The film saw a limited growth on the second and third day after its release. The film collected Rs. 11.60 crore on Saturday as compared to Rs. 10.36 crore on Friday. On Sunday, its ticket collection stood at Rs 12.40 crore.

While the Aditya Chopra film opened well, it failed to capitalise on it with the growth on Saturday and Sunday being slow. Usually, any film shows a strong growth on the second and third day and the first weekend collection is crucial at the box office. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#Befikre Fri 10.36 cr, Sat 11.60 cr, Sun 12.40 cr. Total: ₹ 34.36 cr [2100 screens]. India biz.”

Another reason of film’s slow growth could be average reviews that are circulating on social media. The film failed to get a lot of appreciation but a large section of the audience is praising the performance of Ranveer Singh. Some critics have also said that the film heavily depends on Ranveer. The actor is a self-claimed entertainer as far as his recent tweet goes. Ranveer tweeted, “All I ever wanted to be was an entertainer. Your love & support has made it possible for me to live my dream. Thank you.”

Adarsh had earlier tweeted, “#Befikre has limited growth on Sat… Sun crucial… Fri 10.36 cr, Sat 11.60 cr. Total: ₹ 21.96 cr [2100 screens]. India biz.”

Previous releases like Kahaani 2 also seem to be struggling at the box office. Though, there is a silver lining as the Vidya Balan film showed a strong growth this Saturday (December 10). The film collected Rs. 1.60 crore on Saturday, with a growth of 113.33%. Kahaani 2 which released over 825 screens has collected Rs 26.61 crore.

Taran shared, ” #Kahaani2 shows 113.33% growth on Sat… [Week 2] Fri 75 lacs, Sat 1.60 cr. Total: ₹ 26.61 cr. India biz… 825 screens in Week 2.” Meanwhile, Telugu film Dhruva has collected Rs 3.16 crores from its overseas collection in USA. The film released on Thursday in USA. Taran shared, “Telugu film #Dhruva crosses half-million mark in USA today [Sat]… Thu pre $ 223,871, Fri $ 244,214. Total: $ 468,085 [₹ 3.16 cr]. ”

The only film that has somehow managed to shine in the face of cash crunch is Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt-starrer Dear Zindagi. The film collected a robust Rs 61.49 crore till last Thursday (December 8) in its second week.
