R-Day: Nine Pune cops honoured

Nine cops from Pune were honoured on the eve of Republic Day with Assistant Commissioner of Police Ranjeet Dhure getting the prestigious Presidential Police Medal.

Nine cops from Pune were honoured on the eve of Republic Day with Assistant Commissioner of Police (Zone I) Ranjeet Dhure getting the prestigious Presidential Police Medal.

Dhure is one of the three police officers in state who have been honoured with the medal. Solapur Police Commissioner Himmat Deshbhratar and Worli sub inspector Ganapati Vaghralkar too received the award.

The other Pune cops who were honoured are Shantaram Tayde,senior inspector with Sangvi police,Ramesh Pandharpur,inspector CID,Sunil Darekar,inspector traffic control,Suresh Malwadkar,inspector wireless training centre,Anand Tathe,inspector anti-corruption branch,Satish Govekar,inspector Anti-Dacoity Cell,Ramesh Barage (assistant police inspector anti-corruption branch),Chandu Pacharane,constable in SRPF.

“I am really humbled by this honour. It has come as a great encouragement for my work,” said Dhure who joined the police in 1977 as a sub inspector in Solapur. In 1996 he received the Director-General’s Insignia and in1998 he was honoured for best investigation. He took charge as ACP in Pune in 2009.
