The inside walls of the Yerawada jail premises were painted by 50 jail inmates and 50 artists from various cities in an event titled ‘Muktrang’, which was organised by the jail in association with social group Vanarsena and Indigo Paints Pvt Ltd on Saturday.

The inmates and artists painted the walls on various themes like natural beauty, education, family bonding, motivational slogans and messages given by popular personalities. The objective of the event was to inspire and motivate inmates to lead a better life and become good citizens with the help of positive and motivational messages through the paintings around them. “Most of the jail inmates were painters so they knew how to paint and were also helped by the professional artists present at the event. The painted Bhagar Singh’s picture, slogans, The Buddha and many positive quotes,” said Bhushankumar Upadhyay, Additional Director General of Police, Prison, Maharashtra. The event took place from 10 am to 4 pm.
