Pune: Organ donation awareness campaign held by Rosary Schools

Dr Sheetal Mahajani-Dhadphale said for successful transplantation, the organ needed to reach the transplant centre safely and as fast as possible.

To spread awareness among students about organ donation, Rosary Schools organised a seminar at Nehru Memorial Hall. Experts from Ruby Hall, including Surekha Joshi, medical social worker at Ruby Hall Clinic, and Dr Sheetal Mahajani-Dhadphale, consultant liver transplant physician and in-charge of liver transplant department at Ruby Hall Clinic, gave a presentation on basic aspects of organ donation, the need for it, the process and the green corridor.

The experts interacted with the students in the age group 14-16 years and their parents.

Dr Sheetal Mahajani-Dhadphale said for successful transplantation, the organ needed to reach the transplant centre safely and as fast as possible because the organ’s shelf life was limited. She appreciated the work done by the state police to provide a green corridor, whenever necessary.
