Mathadi leader held for ‘beating up’ traffic warden on BRTS route in Pune

THE PUNE city police have arrested a Mathadi Kamgar Union leader, Ravindra Sasane, for allegedly beating up a traffic warden on duty at the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) route in Chandan Nagar on Thursday afternoon.

The warden, Ramsevak Sharan (55), resident of Mundhwa, lodged the complaint in this case at the Vimantal police station. Police have booked Sasane under sections 353, 332, 504, 427 of the Indian Penal Code.

Police said that Sasane was driving his car on BRTS route. So the traffic warden Sharan, who was on duty on the BRTS route in Chandan Nagar, stopped Sasane’s car around 2 pm. However, Sasane got angry. He came out of the car and thrashed the warden badly. He also allegedly tore the warden’s uniform. Police sub inspector D N Jaysingkar is investigating the case further.
