Many family members were against the marriage. But the disagreement intensified when Sagar’s name was not added in the invitation card for the wedding of Monika’s sister on December 8. On December 7, Sagar came to the wedding venue and created ruckus. Following which Monika’s uncle Satish Thombre took him away. Police said both men consumed liquor later. The two then got into a fight, during which Satish hit Sagar with wooden sticks, leading to his death. Satish then asked an unidentified man to dispose off the body.

Senior inspector Vijaykumar Palsule of Nigdi police station said a probe was launched in the case, following which Monika approached the police with a complaint. Satish has now been arrested and has been remanded to police custody.
