Fuelled by sale figures,pre-owned Mercedez-Benz outlet drives into Pune

In the last four months,Mercedes-Benz sold 400 pre-owned cars in Delhi,Mumbai,Chennai and Ahmedabad,cities covered in phase-I of its pre-owned car sale plan.

Encouraged by the phase I success,the German auto major on Friday launched its used cars sales ‘ProvenExclusivity’ in Pune,along with Hyderabad,Bangalore,Kolkata and Jalandhar.

Wilfried Aulbur,Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director,Mercedes-Benz,India,said each used car goes through strict quality assurance parameters and is manufacturer-backed.

“One could purchase a per-owned Mercedes-Benz car spending Rs 15 lakh. But it depends on year of manufacture,the condition and we have put strict guidelines by which a dealer will rate a car. We give the quality assurance,manufacturer-backed warranty and comprehensive solutions for used cars. The prices vary from car to car even if it is of the same class according to various parameters,” said Aulbur.

Of the 400 cars sold in four months,90 per cent was C and E class,Debashis Mitra,Director,Sales and Marketing,Member of the Board of Management,said. “Car finance option is available as we have tied-up with banks like ICICI and Axis,” he said.

Aulbur also said Diamler AG will launch financial services in India under the Diamler Financial Services (DFS) to cater to new cars as well as used ones. “We are in the preparation phase for a Daimler Financial Services operation in India to support all the Daimler commercial vehicle and passenger car brands in the market,” he added.

He said DFS had received all requisite internal approvals from the group and is awaiting regulatory approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to commence operations in India.
