Marketing professional-turned writer Akash Verma was in the city to launch his entertaining thriller- It happened that night
Marketing professional Akash Verma prefers to call his newfound love- writing,a medium to reach out to people and express himself. In the city to launch his first book- It happened that night,Verma, the marketing head of a Delhi-based company talked about the book, about how his life influenced the incidents in the book and about his future projects.
I like to call this book an entertaining thriller. It is about the balancing act a middle class 28-year-old professional has to deal while managing his work ethics and his conscience. Coming from an MBA background,he thinks that success comes along with the degree. But a series of events in the corporate world change his perspective. In fact one night,he sees an employee being murdered in the office and while the professional responsibilities demand that he keeps quiet, his ethics compel him to talk, says Verma.
Having taken up writing after over 14 years of corporate experience,Verma says that many characters in the book have some way or the other been a part of his life. It is obvious in case of any writer that the characters or the incidents he narrates have at some point of time been a part of his or her life. But yes,in the book,I have presented the events with a little bit of twist to make the book interesting, smiles Verma.
Commenting on the target reader of the novel Verma says,Anyone between the age group 16 to 40 can read this book. In fact it is the story of an upper middle class professional which means that anyone and everyone can relate to it.
Having started in 2006,it was 2008 when Verma, finished writing the book. I was once traveling from Jaipur to Delhi when I saw my book on a bookstall. Its a great feeling to be an author and I am now working on my next novel- a love story, which will be out by the second half of this year. But for now,I am waiting for the feedback from my readers, he concludes.
