BPCL petrol pumps face fuel shortage

The petrol pump run by the Bharat Petrol Corporation Ltd opposite Jangli Maharaj temple has been facing a shortage of petrol and diesel since Tuesday.

The petrol pump run by the Bharat Petrol Corporation Ltd (BPCL) opposite Jangli Maharaj temple has been facing a shortage of petrol and diesel since Tuesday. On Sunday, the petrol pump closed down in the morning and on Monday it had no fuel till late afternoon. A few other BPCL petrol pumps in the city too have been getting fuel supplies intermittently. Official sources said the problem was not serious as situation would normalise in two-three days with “oil refinery cleanliness” work going on which is an usual practice around this time of the year.

“On Sunday morning,we had closed down as there was no fuel despite the fact that we had placed our order on Tuesday. We have to place our orders every alternate day to replenish our stock. But this time we did not get fuel for three days,” said pump owner Chandrakant Shirole. He said officials have been telling them the problem would be sorted out soon as the “oil refinery cleanliness” work was on.

BPCL depot manager Loni Prakash Maraipgol said BPCL gets supplies from Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd but currently was not getting the adequate stock. “We have not been able to cater to the demands of our petrol pumps,” he said. The BPCL runs 133 petrol pumps in the district and officials said not all were facing the shortage problem. “There has been a delay in supplying the fuel as we are not getting supplies from HPCL in Pune. We are procuring the stock from Manmad,” he said.
