Social Activist Anna Hazare has been hospitalised after he complained of ‘extreme weakness’.
He is receiving medical care at a private hospital in Ahmednagar city — about 60 kms from his village, Ralegan Siddhi. Doctors have said that he has now been shifted out of the Intensive Care Unit (where he spent 20 hours) and that his health is stable.
“He suddenly felt weak and couldn’t walk or perform any activity. We took him to the hospital at around 1 pm on Thursday. The doctor examined him and admitted him to the ICU. Several tests were conducted on him. This afternoon, he has been moved out of the ICU and is now recuperating at the hospital,” said Sanjay Pathade, Hazare’s aide.
The doctor, Pathade said, has said that fatigue caused due to Hazare’s recent tours to Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Marathwada led to the sickness.
“These tours were conducted one after the other and he travelled in extreme heat. He also skipped meals. This may have caused the weakness,” Pathade said, adding that Hazare is expected to be discharged on Saturday.
