Women staffers in for awards and appreciation

From launching new policies for women staffers to felicitating the best workers to organising interesting events for them,corporate houses in the city are getting innovative this International Women’s Day.

From launching new policies for women staffers to felicitating the best workers to organising interesting events for them,corporate houses in the city are getting innovative this International Women’s Day. Cummins India has recently announced two new policies for its women employees. The policies include New Mother Policy and Flexi-Work Policy. Under the New Mother Policy,a new mother can avail an additional three months leave to the stipulated 3 months of maternity leave mandated by the Maternity Benefits Act 1961. The leave can be taken either against accumulated leave or without pay. The second policy launched by the company is Part Time Work Policy or Flexi-Work Policy. “This policy allows employees (both men and women) to work part time or flexibility in work timing. Flexible work timing allows the employee the flexibility to come in and leave office at a convenient time,” said Nagarajan Balanaga,vice president,human resources,Cummins India.

At Fiserv India,that has branches in Pune,Noida and Bengaluru,a number of fun activities are planned for entire March month. “These events are centred on the theme ‘To celebrate the spirit of womanhood at work’. The aim is to involve women associates in fun activities,recognise their talent and provide them a platform to share their experiences,” said Pallavi Sharma,general manager,human resources,Fiserv India. Some of the activities that will be organised are ‘Proud to be a woman contest’,’Celebrating womanhood’,’Health sensitivity’,Grandma Diaries’ and ‘A tete-a-tete with the women in the leadership team’. “For instance,under ‘Health Sensitivity’ an interactive session will be arranged with a doctor who will address all the female associates. In ‘Grandma Diaries’,every Friday,we will feature a home-remedy,recipe or kitchen tips spilling secrets to strike a work-life balance,” added Sharma.

BNY Mellon Pune,an investment management and services company will organise a panel discussion on the topic ‘Safety Awareness for Women’ for its female employees. Besides this,the company also holds regular workshops for the women staffers about positive career management.

Harbinger Group will be organising special screening of Oscar-winning film ‘The Artist’ for its 140 women staff members at a city multiplex and that too during the office hours. The company’s total strength of 400 software professionals include 40 per cent women employees. “Some key positions in the company are handled by women and almost 50 per cent women staffers ave risen to high ranks after joining the company as trainee,thus automatically a culture of women power has been created in the company,” said Swati Ketkar,executive director,Harbinger Group.
