Winter session of Maharashtra Legislature prorogued

The Lower House had a total of 10 sittings and the proceedings lasted for about 66.40 hours while about 3.05 hours were wasted due to various reasons.

The winter session of Maharashtra Legislature which commenced here on December 5, prorogued on Saturday. Speaker of Legislative Assembly Haribhau Bagde read out the communication from the state Governor that the Budget Session of Legislature will commence from March 6 in Mumbai.

The Lower House had a total of 10 sittings and the proceedings lasted for about 66.40 hours while about 3.05 hours were wasted due to various reasons. There were around 8,579 starred question received and about 441 were taken up. The Lower House also received 2,261 calling attention motions and selected 82 and nine were taken.

Bagde said the average attendance in the House was 72.2 percent while the maximum was 82 percent and lowest 40.8 percent. Similarly the Maharashtra Legislative Council worked for about 51.40 hours and lost around 6.45 hours.

As many as 38 calling attention motions were taken up, Chairman of the State Legislative Council Ram Raje Naik Nimbalkar said while proroguing the Upper House.
