A 43-year-old man was convicted by a special court on Thursday for sexually assaulting his eight-year-old daughter. The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act court sentenced the man to life imprisonment along with imposing a fine of Rs 25,000. The incident had taken place in 2014. The prosecution had submitted before the court that the sexual assault took place when the victim’s mother and grandmother were not at home.
Sensing something wrong when she returned home, the victim’s grandmother confronted the accused. The girl revealed she had been sexually abused in the past too. The Nirmal Nagar police were approached, which booked the girl’s father for rape as well as under the POCSO Act. The prosecution examined eight witnesses, including the victim.
