Two separate incidents of fire took place in the city on Friday, one in Andheri East and the other in Sewri. There were no injuries in either incident.

The fire in Andheri started around 1 pm on the second floor of a building on the Andheri-Kurla Road in the Shiv Shakti Industrial Estate and spread to the floor above.

Four fire engines and water tankers were sent to the spot and the fire was doused by 3:17 pm. Fire officials stated that though no one was injured, a woman had complained of suffocation but refused treatment.

The second fire broke out in a godown located on the ground floor of a building in Modi compound near Naryalwadi in Sewri around 2 pm.

“It was a big fire which was confined to the electric wiring and electric installation in the godown, spread out over around 300 sq ft, and the air conditioning plant nearby,” said a fire official.

Nine fire engines and six water tankers were sent to the spot and the fire was extinguished by 4:35 pm.
