Even as Class X students of the state board are busy applying for admission to junior colleges of their choice, those belonging to CBSE Board are still awaiting their original marksheets. To add to their misery, the students applying for admissions under minority quota (offline) will be granted provisional admission until they submit their original marksheets.
The decision came through a circular issued by the deputy director of education,Mumbai,on Saturday. Not only under minority quota, but CBSE students seeking admissions to junior college through offline mode under other quotas will also be granted provisional admission.
N B Chavan, assistant director, said,Until the students submit their original marksheets, their admissions would not be finalised. After they submit their marksheets we would verify the documents and only then their admissions would be regularised.
Without original marksheets, students will not be able to apply for admissions online. Schools have been receiving frantic calls from parents and students but they are as helpless since the CBSE Board has not yet commented on the status of marksheets. For the time being, parents are getting print-outs of the online score cards of students on school letter heads and are getting it attested by the respective schools. Despite repeated attempts to contact CBSE director Vineet Joshi,he was unavailable for comments. ENS
