The residents of Rajguru Nagar’s ‘B’ block have lodged a police complaint against the owners of MBD Neopolis mall, accusing them of trespassing.

I S Khurana,a resident of the area, said: “This colony has been developed and maintained by the Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT). At the end of Rajguru Nagar, privately owned areas begin. The MBD Neopolis mall is located in the private area adjoining the colony’s block B. On the night of March 27,around 10.30 pm,some people started digging up our roads to lay sewage pipes connecting the mall, without the sanction of LIT.”

He added: “When a large number of residents gathered at the spot and questioned their activity, they stopped work. But later, labourers again started digging up the road and our manhole. Again,we asked them to stop work. Now,we have requested the police to register a case against the owners of MBD Neopolis for trespassing and damaging our property.”

K S Chawla,a well-known journalist and a resident of the area, said: “I have taken up the matter with LIT Chairman M M Vyas. He said that whatever the mall owners were doing was illegal. The area falls under the Ludhiana Improvement Trust and they are yet to take approval from the body.”
