Rain wreaks havoc in Abohar

This was the first heavy rainfall experienced in Abohar till now.

It’s been three days since heavy rain lashed Fazilka’s Abohar town, but its after effects are still visible. A number of low lying areas are still water logged and few houses have even developed cracks, which forced DC Fazilka Isha Kalia to visit the area. After taking stock of the situation, she ordered for a survey of the damaged houses and also reviewed arrangements of disposal of water from low lying colonies.

This was the first heavy rainfall experienced in Abohar till now. In September last year, over 100 houses were damaged and after a survey a grant of Rs 1.52 crores was announced, but till date, the amount has not been disbursed.
