Law student, friend held for harassing girl

The accused used to follow her and pass comments.

The division number 5 police arrested a law student and his friend late on Saturday evening. A case under sections 354-D and 509 of the IPC was registered against the accused for chasing and passing comments on a girl outside Khalsa College for Women.

The accused were identified as Anubhav Sharma and Sachin Arora. Anubhav is a law student. The police also confiscated the Honda Accord car in which they were following the girl.

The case was registered following the statement of a 19-year-old girl, who is a student of BA-I at KCW, Ghumar Mandi. In her complaint the girl told the police that she along with her friend was returning home from the college on Saturday noon. The accused passed indecent comments. The boys started following her and again passed comments at Bharat Nagar Chowk traffic signal.

Inspector Beant Juneja, SHO at division number 5 police station, said the police registered a case following the complaint and arrested the accused. The accused were released on bail on Sunday.
