Congress seeks resignation of PAU vice-chancellor

The party threatened to launch a protest if Dhillon doesn’t resign from his post within a week.

Alleging that Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) is being used for political purposes, Congress Monday submitted a memorandum against vice chancellor Dr BS Dhillon to the deputy commissioner.

The party threatened to launch a protest if Dhillon doesn’t resign from his post within a week.

MLA Ludhiana central and Ludhiana urban Congress president Gurpreet Gogi said that recently PAU involved its students in a political survey which was allegedly being conducted on directions of the SAD-BJP government. The survey which was carried out in the name of socio-economic survey by a private firm had questions related to SAD-BJP, AAP, Kejriwal among others. There is also a proposal to use the research land at the campus for construction of a helipad for the Badals, he said.

Claiming that Congress won’t allow politicisation of a reputed research institute like PAU whose aim is to provide better farm technology to farmers, the MLA added, “VC Dhillon is acting on the directions of Badals. We want his resignation within a week.”
