Woman’s body found in Hathras, face burnt with acid to conceal identity

Police said the woman was most likely in her mid-40s. Her body was found lying on the roadside by passers-by, who then informed the police.

The body of an unidentified woman, with her face burnt by acid, was recovered in Sasni police station area of Hathras district on Monday morning.

Station Officer Kushalpal Singh said the woman was murdered somewhere else and her body was then dumped after burning her face with acid to conceal her identity.

The woman is yet to be identified, police said.

Singh said a liquor bottle sold in Uttarakhand was found at the spot which may have contained the acid. A copy of a newspaper published from Moradabad was also found from the spot, he added.

Police have lodged an FIR for murder against unidentified persons.
