Lucknow: Jobless youth murders aunt, cousin for property

Station officer Gyan Singh Yadav said Ila is out of danger while search is on for Aditya who is absconding.

A woman and her elder daughter were shot dead while her sister seriously injured allegedly by the woman’s nephew over a property dispute in Fatehpur district’s Saheli village Thursday morning.

Officers of Malwan police station said Aditya Dwivedi shot his aunt Vimla (45), and her daughters Kumud (20) and Ila (18) around 6.30 am Thursday. Kumud was going to get married on Saturday. While she and Vimla died on the spot, Ila is undergoing treatment at Hallet Hospital in Kanpur.

Station officer Gyan Singh Yadav said Ila is out of danger while search is on for Aditya who is absconding. Yadav said Vimla did not have any sons and Aditya, who is jobless, wanted all her property to be named after him.

He said he had been pressuring Vimla over the matter.

“The accused figured if Kumud got married, her husband will become a claimant for the share in the property, and so he decided to kill them,” said Yadav. Vimla’s husband was murdered about 10 years ago, police informed.
