Lucknow: 5-year-old, man killed in explosion

Two persons were killed while three others left injured after a blast at the house of a garbage collector in Thoonthibari police station limits of Maharajganj district Thursday morning.

The blast took place around 11.15 am when Bikau Kevat, 45, was sorting the garbage in his house and hit some object lying in it with a hammer, police said.

Kevat and his neighbour Hiraman’s five-year-old son Amar were killed in the explosion, police said, adding that Kevat’s wife Urmila, daughter Mamata, and son Nikhil were injured. All three were admitted at the district hospital.

Circle Officer Anil Kumar said a team of forensic experts visited the spot and collected the samples. “We cannot say what exactly it was that caused the explosion. We will be able to do so only after getting the forensic report has arrived,” he said.
