Jeweller shot at by robbers near Lucknow

A 25-year-old jeweller was shot at by unidentified miscreants in Banthara police station area during an alleged failed robbery attempt on Sunday morning.

A 25-year-old jeweller was shot at by unidentified miscreants in Banthara police station area during an alleged failed robbery attempt on Sunday morning.

According to police,the incident took place near Sohramau town around 10 am when the jeweller,Vinay Soni,was on his way from Soharamau to Banthara on a motorbike with his brother Vishal.

Police said Vinay was riding pillion and carrying a bag of jewellery while Vishal was driving the motorbike. They were stopped by two motorbike-borne men who tried to snatch the bag Vinay was holding. Vinay ran away but one of the robber chased him and later shot at him when he did not leave the bag,police said.

The bullet hit the jeweller’s waist. He has been admitted to King George Medical University where he is undergoing treatment.

Banthara station officer Dhanesh Prasad said an FIR has been lodged against unidentified persons under various sections of the IPC including 307(attempt to murder).

Prasad said the miscreants could not take the bag with them as Vinay did not leave it.
