Fire at Howrah station, no casualty

Though passengers panicked, the fire was brought under control within an hour, and no casualty has been reported.

A fire broke out at the food plaza of Howrah railway station on Friday at 6.20 am. Five fire engines were pressed into service to douse the fire.

Though passengers panicked, the fire was brought under control within an hour, and no casualty has been reported.

According to sources, it could have been a bigger incident as a number of flammable cylinders were placed just outside the food plaza.

However, firefighters doused the fire before it could reach the cylinders.

Sources said the food plaza will be closed for the time being, and the actual cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
