Campaigning for the upcoming civic elections is set to begin from Sunday and the BJP has decided to rope in several senior leaders, MLAs and local leaders to put all its might behind the party candidates. It has given the responsibility to all state office bearers and district in-charge ministers to oversee and coordinate the campaigning.
As part of its strategy, the BJP has not rolled out candidates in some of the wards and has instead decided to support independent leaders. This is a backup plan so that if the party candidates are not able to get the desired majority, BJP can claim majority with the help of these independent leaders in that particular ward.
BJP state secretary Ashok Lahoti confirmed that the party is not contesting from a few wards but instead is supporting independent candidates there and that the step has been taken after consulting the local workers. He said the party is receiving the support of the public in all cities.

Meanwhile, senior BJP leaders are set to take part in the campaigning in wards that lie in their areas of influence. Special instructions have been given to the local MLAs to be active in their regions. They would get in touch with party workers in different wards of their areas and rope in their support at every level.
